Former MVP Cam Newton tried to revive his professional football career at the Auburn pro day. The 6’5 245 pound quarterback is turning 34 years old in May and has not shown much on the NFL stage since losing the starting job to Mac Jones in 2020. How did this pro day go for the veteran quarterback? Let’s take a look.

At first sight, Newton looks in great psychical shape. It’s hard to tell how good he is when throwing against air however, he appears to be more accurate and has added some great touch to his passes. The QB would throw around 60+ yards, that's about the average range for starting quarterbacks. Now the question is what are good team fits for the Cam at this stage in his career?

  1. Baltimore Ravens - Lamar Jackson requested a trade on 3/2/23 however it wasn’t made public until 3/27/23. He is still on the non-exclusive franchise tag, but made it clear he wants out of Baltimore. Cam Newton’s skill set would fit right in with the offensive scheme. The Ravens could draft a Quarterback and have him develop behind the former MVP QB. Hendon Hooker anyone?
  2. Tennessee Titans - The Titans have Malik Willis and Ryan Tannehill. The journey with Tannehill is coming to an end after an injury riddle season saw the Titans regress.  That’ll open up a spot for Cam Newton to mentor Malik Willis. The former MVP would teach the young quarterback some great tips and tricks.
  3. XFL/USFL - Should one of these Spring leagues give Super Cam a chance? It would be fun to watch however the possibilities of that happening is slim. Moving forward to the last possibility.
  4. Retirement - Is it time for Cam Newton to hang up the cleats? It’s the biggest possibility. Looking back at Cam Newton’s career he was one of the most dominant players of his generation.

What do you think the options are for Cam? Let us know in the comments.
